Woman Raped The Day Before She Started Primary School Slams ‘lenient’ Four-year Sentence Handed To Sex Beast Attacker

A WOMAN who was raped before she started primary school by a sex beast has slammed judges who refused to increase his “lenient” four-year sentence.

John Barbour, 52, was convicted of attacking two young girls in a campaign of abuse which started when they were just four years old.

The Crown immediately launched an appeal after the paedophile, from Aberdeen, was sentenced because they felt it was “unduly lenient”.

But the appeal was thrown out yesterday and one of his victims was “disgusted” and asked “where’s the justice?”

She told the Daily Record: “After what Barbour put me through when I was a child, raping me almost daily, I feel like I’ve been kicked in the teeth.”

The woman, now 38, added: “I’m disgusted. Where’s the justice?

“I’ve carried what happened all my life. It took me all this time to be able to come forward. I had to for my sanity, but this almost makes me ask, ‘For what?’

“He should’ve got 10 years for what he did to me alone. What message does this send to other victims of abuse?”

Barbour targeted his first victim when he was 13 or 14 and preyed on his second victim when he was in his early 20s.

He was jailed in March and judges at the Court of Appeal in Edinburgh heard the attacks happened “almost every night”.

Advocate depute Alex Prentice QC said: “Overall, this is a case which can be described as being unduly lenient.”
