Will Carla Connor be sectioned in Coronation Street and is Alison King leaving the soap?

SHE’S  usually one of the toughest women in soap, but poor Carla Connor’s mental health has taken a battering following the factory collapse and Rana Habeeb’s death.

Carla escaped from the medical centre during Friday’s (April 12, 2019) episode, leaving Peter Barlow seriously worried about her safety.

Will Carla be sectioned in Coronation Street?

Peter Barlow was worried that Carla would be sectioned and hospitalised for months when Toyah Battersby told him she needed a proper mental health assessment and called the crisis team.

Carla has been getting increasingly paranoid since receiving messages from ‘Rana’ – which was actually Alya Nazir being malicious. She’s become convinced that Rana is still alive and that ‘they’ are out to get her.

She refused to drink tea Ken Barlow had made her, worried it was poisonous and headed out without any shoes. Peter found her staring at the factory ruins and babbling about him calling the police on her.

But before the crisis team even got to Carla, she escaped out of the window in the medical centre, while Peter panicked about her state of mind. He called the police and reported her missing and vulnerable, but was furious when they didn’t appear to take Carla’s disappearance seriously.

He headed off to find her himself. We know from spoilers that Carla will hole herself up in a squat where she’s rescued by Peter. It’s not known if she will be referred as a mental health in-patient at this time.

Is Alison King leaving Coronation Street?

The good news is there’s been no announcement from either Corrie bods or Ali King herself that she’s leaving the ITV soap for a second time.

Alison – who plays Carla Connor – returned to the cobbles over Christmas 2017 after leaving the show in 2016.

Her return storyline saw her bail out her half-brother Aidan Connor after Underworld was almost destroyed when Eva Price tried to get revenge on him for cheating with Maria Connor.

Since her return Carla has been at the centre of huge storylines including her kidney transplant, Aidan’s suicide and the factory collapse.
