Wednesday’s horse racing NAP: Your best bet for today’s ITV racing from Callum Jamieson

IT’S another day to largely keep the powder dry at Newmarket.

However, at current odds, I’ve landed on one in the Craven, hoping to follow up Tuesday’s winner.

Wednesday racing tips Newmarket

ROYAL MARINE (Newmarket, 3.35) is the clear form pick in a deep looking Craven.

Any Group 1 winner has to be taken seriously in a Group 3, it goes without saying.

His current rating of 113 would be good enough to have beaten Masar in this last season and we all know what he went on to achieve.

Zakouski currently heads the market, for the other arm of Godolphin under Charlie Appleby.

While I could be proven completely wrong; he comes here off the back of one win at Kempton that has not worked out well at all.

The fourth was beat off 67 only recently while the second, the well thought of Headman, has also been stuffed.

He’s a talking horse though and the Newmarket Gossip Girl Facebook page is full of Zakouski mentions.

That said, I’d side with the form in the book over paddock talk all day at this stage of the season. Royal Marine is already battle hardened and Saeed bin Suroor will be praying this colt can return him to centre stage on home soil.
