The Handmaid’s Tale season three had perhaps some of the most tense episodes of the series within it. In particular, the final episode of season three saw June (played by Elisabeth Moss) attempting to escape Gilead with a huge number of children. Despite getting the children on the plane, she was not successful in getting away unscathed.
As she was running away from the ordeal June was shot – before killing the man attempting to kill her.
Viewers were left in the unfortunate position of not knowing whether the show’s protagonist would survive the wound or not.
Since then, fans have only been able to speculate over what is going to happen to June in the upcoming fourth season.
Thankfully, viewers have had the pleasure of diving through the various interviews that The Handmaid’s Tale showrunner Bruce Miller has given.

In particular, a recent interview with TV Guide saw Bruce dropping some hints about how season four will be approached.
He even went on to tease June’s fate, alluding to her not surviving the ordeal.
During the interview he explained: “We are following June, and June lives in Gilead, and Gilead is not a nice place.
“And it will continue to be not a nice place. And we try to be very realistic about what would probably happen and how would things work.”
While this is certainly a vague statement, fans of the franchise can read between the lines and recognise this comment spells bad news for June.
Gilled is a place of great punishment, many of which have been demonstrated over the years.
Last season saw one of the handmaids being killed for acting against the Gilead dictatorship, meaning nothing is off the table for misbehaving residents.
Considering June escaped the country with a horde of children, and then killed a police officer, she is not in good standing with the state.
Could this eventually lead to her tragic death when she recovers?
Meanwhile, fans believe Serena Joy’s (Yvonne Strahovski) mother is not safe next season either.
Reddit user Dubcheck asked viewers: “Just wondering what will happen to Pamela now that Serena left her.
“Did Serena just leave her to the mercy of the Sons of Jacob or did she warn her mother and give her a chance to escape?”
