THE Bachelor viewers were left stunned after Alex picked Alicia as the winner in tonight’s finale.
His final decision was between 25-year-old Essex native Alicia and rival Charlotte, who was understandably gutted to be ditched at the final hurdle.
Speaking to host Mark Wright after being dumped, runner-up Charlotte said: “I just want to go home, get over this and carry on life and focus on myself and not get hurt again.”
Alex then spoke to Alicia in a paradise-like beach setting, where he confessed his love.
The hunk told her about his concerns over their six-year age gap: “I have been worried about what the other girls have said about you, and your age and whether or not you’re ready for a big relationship… but I followed my heart. And I’ve fallen in love with you.”
The Bachelor fans flocked to social media to comment on the outcome, with one viewer offering out their “commiserations” to the couple.
One viewer ranted: “What a pile of scripted bulls***. She’ll be in Towie by the end of the year.”
Another put: “I would congratulate Alicia but instead I offer my commiserations. Alex will break your heart just like he has broken the hearts of the other 18 women.”
A third hit out: “Alex and Alicia are NOT compatible!”
Viewers continued to criticise Alex’s shock decision which comes just days after a fiery confrontation with Alicia when the hunk showed interest in the other women.
One viewer tweeted: “How the hell has he chosen Alicia over Charlotte?!”
Another put: “What??? Is Alex blind or stupid? Can’t believe he let such an incredible woman walk out of his life.”
Charlotte’s legion of disgruntled fans continued to show support for the runner-up, with one writing: “Aw, Charlotte deserves a lot better than Alex anyway.”

But some viewers were in defence of the final outcome, supporting the blossoming relationship.
One put: “YES Alicia! She’s been the star of the show and definitely the most genuine (and dramatic) from the start.”
A second followed: “Alex you chose the right girl, hope it works out for you both.”
Another viewer begged for an update on Alex and Alicia’s romance, writing: “They need to do a follow up in six months because I’m invested in this now.”
