Six Nations 2019: England handed blow as Maro Itoje limps out of training session ahead of Italy clash

MARO ITOJE has handed England a huge scare after he limped out of training.

The star lock has only just recovered from knee ligament damage after the opening-day Six Nations win against Ireland.

And at the end of England’s session on Tuesday the Saracens star cut a forlorn figure after he crashed to the deck during a drill with the forwards.

With boss Eddie Jones standing in front of him, as if he was a rival defender, Itoje stepped off his left knee and appeared to grimace in pain before falling over in a heap.

The Lions hero then limped straight off after being asked by teammate and no.8 Billy Vunipola if he was okay.

On the way to the changing room he spoke to a physio before going inside, getting changed and then leaving on his own.

With just two other locks included in the squad to face Italy on Saturday, Jones might have to call in the cavalry.
