Sergio Perez returns for Racing Point at Spanish Grand Prix as Nico Hulkenberg drops out

Sergio Perez will return to F1 action at Sunday’s Spanish Grand Prix after testing negative for coronavirus. The Racing Point driver was forced to sit out the back-to-back races at Silverstone this month after contracting COVID-19 in the wake of July’s Hungarian Grand Prix.

Racing Point drafted in Nico Hulkenberg to replace Perez and partner Lance Stroll on a temporary basis.

The German missed the British Grand Prix himself – despite qualifying for the race – as engine trouble meant he couldn’t start.

But he bounced back last weekend to come home in seventh at the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix, just one place behind team-mate Stroll.
