Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, was invited to spend Christmas with the royal family before getting married to Prince Harry. Royal expert Phil Dampier told how the Queen will be “betrayed” over some shocking court reports being released.
In the bombshell documents, Meghan claims she felt “unprotected” by the Royal Family.
Mr Dampier said: “I think the Queen is going to be absolutely devastated by this.
“She’ll cope with it but she will feel desperately betrayed.”
He added: “She broke with protocol to invite Meghan to Christmas at Sandringham before they were married, and the couple ended up with a beautiful multi-million pound home in the middle of Windsor Great Park.
“Some will be wondering: what more did they want?”
The Duchess also attended Prince Harry and his family’s traditional Christmas Day church service in 2017.
The royal couple announced their engagement just after that Christmas.
After their wedding in May 2018 at St George’s Chapel, the pair moved into a newly-refurbished Frogmore cottage.
But last January the couple made the shocking announcement that they intended to step back as senior royals.
They did so via an Instagram post and without consulting the Queen prior to making it public.

“We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages.
“This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity.
“We look forward to sharing the full details of this exciting next step in due course, as we continue to collaborate with Her Majesty The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge, and all relevant parties.
“Until then, please accept our deepest thanks for your continued support. – Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”
The couple have since moved to Los Angeles with their one-year-old son Archie, where they continue to support causes they believe in.
