ZINEDINE ZIDANE rolled back the clock as HIS Real Madrid returned.

The Bernabeu’s chosen one went back to the tried and trusted on his homecoming just 10 months after a shock departure.

Isco, Keylor Navas, Marcelo and Gareth Bale were brought in from the cold — and Zidane was rewarded for his faith.

Isco struck the first before Bale combined with Marcelo to put the Spanish giants back on track.

This was by no means a return to the blitzing Galactico juggernaut that the Frenchman left behind, but three points make many believe in the revival.

Zidane, who led Madrid to three successive Champions League titles, had made a statement with his starting XI.

Summer signing Thibaut Courtois has been widely criticised in the Spanish capital and Zidane opted to go back to his Costa Rican keeper.

When Navas flung out a strong left hand to deny a Maxi Gomez header from point-blank range, the selection was justified.

Relegation-threatened Celta Vigo were barely troubled by Real in the first-half and Zidane will have called for a greater intensity.

That was seen immediately, and the breakthrough appeared to have come 10 minutes into the second half.

Luka Modric’s long-range strike flew into the back of the net but ended up being ruled out for offside after a VAR review.

The hosts had the lead moments later thanks to Marco Asensio’s mazey run that ended up being tapped in by Isco, who hadn’t made a league start since October.

Perhaps the only Galactico not to have welcomed Zidane’s return was Welshman Bale, as his future had been thrown into uncertainty.

But his chance appeared immediately as Bale struck the second to secure the points for Real and put them two points off second-place Atletico Madrid.

Zidane is back and so, perhaps, are Madrid.
