PS5 release date news today includes a hint that a highly anticipated feature could be coming to the PS4 successor.
Sony PlayStation fans are expecting more details on the PS5 in 2019, with analysts predicting a release date for the PS4 successor soon.
It’s rumoured that the PS5 could launch in either 2019 or 2020, with an announcement on the next-gen PlayStation expected from Sony this year.
This rumour of an incoming announcement have only been given more weight after Sony decided to skip E3 2019.
Fans have been left wondering whether this is because Sony are planning on hosting their own event that will unveil the PS4 successor.
The PS5 is rumoured to boast backwards compatibility for all PlayStation consoles and potentially 8K support.
And it’s been speculated that the PS5 could also have another eye-catching feature.
Sony had previously announced the tech behind 360 Reality Audio during CES 2019.
This impressive audio tech makes listeners feel as if they are immersed in sound from all directions.
And it’s rumoured that this feature could be coming to the Sony PlayStation 5.
Kichiro Kurozumi, the Head of the Branding and Product Planning Division at Sony Video and Sound Products, teased the tech could be coming to gaming.
Speaking to Forbes, Kurozumi-san said: “We’d like to start very, very simple, so we can make a good foundation, a strong core, for a future-proof technology.
“But of course, we are thinking about two or three directions in the future.
“One, obviously, is applying 360 sound to video. But also we’re thinking about what it would be like applied to games.
“Especially in an interactive capacity.”
It sounds like the tech will be coming to Sony’s games consoles, but not for awhile – which may mean it’ll feature on the PS5 next.
In other PS5 news, it was recently revealed that one highly anticipated game could be appearing on the next-gen Sony PlayStation.
PlayStation 5 may be getting one of Square Enix’s most sought after games when the console’s release date rolls around.
According to a new job listing over on the Crystal Dynamics website, the Square Enix studio is hiring a new external producer to work on a next-gen project.
It’s worth noting that Crystal Dynamics is the studio working on the upcoming Avengers game, which has been MIA since it was originally announced.
It’s not a stretch to assume that the next-gen project in question could be the aforementioned Avengers game.
However, PS4 fans worried that the mysterious Avengers game may skip the current-gen for the next-gen shouldn’t fret just yet.
It’s possible that the Avengers game could be cross-gen, appearing on both the PS4 and PS5.
