It’s gearing up to be a night to remember with Brit star Olivia Colman’s period comedy-drama The Favourite and Netflix’s black-and-white epic Roma leading this year’s race, with 10 nominations each.

The other contenders include A Star Is Born and Vice with eight each, followed by Black Panther with seven.

Black Panther is the first superhero movie to be nominated for best picture.

Instead of one host presenting the ceremony, a bunch of stars have been recruited to fill in for axed comedian Kevin Hart, including Jennifer Lopez, Whoopi Goldberg, Samuel L. Jackson, Pharrell Williams, Gary Oldman and more.

While the line-up sounds epic, the decision not to have a single presenter steering the ceremony is a big risk for the Academy.

The last time they pulled a stunt like this was back in 1989, when the Oscars was opened by a painful number comprising of Rob Lowe collaborating with aspiring actress Eileen Bowman dressed as Snow White.
