A MUM was devastated after her four-year-old daughter chopped off her long blonde hair into a mullet – although admitted it was a “unique look”.
Serena Rose, 28, had sent little Alexis to her grandparents’ home for a sleepover.
But what Serena, from the Netherlands, didn’t know was that an unplanned makeover was about to take place.
Seemingly influenced by watching Serena’s haircut a few days before, Alexis decided to chop off her hair – into a mullet.
The mum, who works at a zoo, said: “I’d just sent Alexis off to her grandparents’ house for the night for a sleepover.
“The next morning, I got a call from them telling me that she had managed to cut all of her hair off.
“I thought they were joking. But then I realised they weren’t, and it was really happening.
“She had been sitting with me when I got my hair cut a few days beforehand, and I think she just wanted to play hairdresser too.”
Serena says her daughter “went crazy” after getting hold of a pair of scissors, and just started hacking off her long blonde locks.
She said: “Apparently she had got a hold of a pair of scissors and just went crazy. It all happened in a matter of minutes.
“There was blonde hair all over the house. They were shocked.”
After initially finding it hilarious that her daughter was now sporting the classic 80s do, Serena realised she would have to shave her head.
She added she became “quite sad”, as Alexis had been growing her hair for a long time.
Serena added: “At first, I thought it was funny, but then I was mad as she knows better than to do that.
“Then I felt heartbroken as we had been growing her hair for so long.
“You can’t help but laugh though at the mullet. It’s quite a unique look.”
Despite giving herself the new look, Alexis didn’t like her new hair.
Serena said: “She was really upset when it happened and instantly regretted it.
“But we try and style her new short hair with hairbands and things like that.”
Now regrowing her mane, the mum said she hoped her daughter had learnt her lesson.

She said: “I get quite sad when I see old pictures of her long hair, it was just so beautiful. It still stings.
“I hope she has learnt a lesson from what happened and will not be doing anything like that again.
“Of course, I still tell her she is beautiful no matter what she looks like.
“I just don’t think she suits a mullet.”
Serena can be glad she no longer sports a hairstyle worthy of being featured with the wackiest retro dos.
And these are officially the worst make-up jobs of all time.
