Meghan Markle had her baby shower in New York last week.

Despite the Hollywood guest list, the lavish event, which took place at The Mark’s penthouse suite in New York City, was ‘an intimate gathering’ of her closest friends who have helped her through her first year of royal life.

It was all baby talk and she was getting lots of advice from her friends during the event which took place on 20 Feb, according to Meghan’s longtime friend and wedding make-up artist, Daniel Martin.

“It was exactly what she needed, and was a reunion for us, too, who hadn’t seen each other since the wedding,” Martin told PEOPLE.

“Snow was falling outside, and it was so cosy – we all sat on couches or on the floor and told stories and caught up.

“It was like a family reunion. The baby is going to be loved by us all,’ he added.

The star-studded line-up of guests, including Amal Clooney, Serena William and Meghan’s former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer, were even treated to a flower-arranging class.

The flowers were then donated to Repeat Roses, a charity that gifts bouquets to hospitals and support centres.

Stylist Jessica Mulroney and Misha Nonoo, who is thought to have introduced Meghan to Prince Harry, also attended the event.

Meghan flies to Morocco – is it safe to fly while pregnant?

The Duchess of Sussex, who grew up in LA, flew to the states for the event, after marrying Prince Harry and moving to the UK in May last year.

The 37-year-old spent five days in the Big Apple where she visited a number of swanky venues with her celebrity friends.

The mother-to-be headed there without a palace press team, which is standard protocol for a private trip, then returned to the UK before jetting off for a three-day tour in Morocco with Prince Harry.

Meghan Markle is expecting her first child with the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, in April or May this year.

With just weeks to go until the birth, some people may be wondering whether it is safe to travel while pregnant, but the NHS say most women can travel safely well into their pregnancy.

Could Meghan Markle ever become Queen?

Before marrying into the Royal family, Meghan worked as an actress on the US cable drama, Suits.

After the wedding last year, she was given the title of the Duchess of Sussex.

Despite her royal title, Meghan could not become Queen of Britain, as she married into the Royal Family and not royal by birth.

The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, is also in a similar position as she also married into the royal family.

Prince Harry is fifth-in-line to the throne after his father, Prince William and his three children.
