Meghan Markle and Prince Harry 'frustrated' over being 'sidelined' in Royal Family

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s upcoming book, Finding Freedom, is expected to go into great detail of the royal couple’s thoughts and feelings and events as members of the Royal Family. Royal Rota hosts Lizzie Robinson and Chris Ship reflected on a short extract they had received ahead of the book’s release and what it revealed about the pair. Ms Robinson claimed the extract highlighted Meghan Markle and Prince Harry felt they had been sidelined within the Royal Family.

Chris Ship added this idea frustrated the couple and potentially contributed to their desire to cut ties with the Royal Family.

Ms Robinson said: “With extract one that came out last Saturday there was a lot of detail about the Sandringham summit and how they felt in the lead up to that.

“About how they wanted to leave and change their roles as working members of the Royal Family.

“Meghan and Harry wanted to have conversations with the Queen and they felt they were being blocked from doing that.

“The book says that on occasion they felt like they were being sidelined from things in favour of other members of the family.”

The royal commentators reflected on the difficulty of speaking with the Queen directly even if you are a member of the Royal Family.

Mr Ship said: “They considered going to see the Queen directly from flying back from Canada.

“That would have been unheard of as you normally have to make an appointment.

“It doesn’t matter if she is your mother or your grandmother she is still the head of state.

“Meghan and Harry considered that they had been blocked from seeing the Queen, that people were actively trying to stop Harry from seeing his grandmother.

“Harry has grown up with this all of his life.

“Not only has his older brother been put ahead of him because he is in line for accession and will one day be King.

“It surprised me that they were frustrated that the Queen and Prince Charles were ahead of them in order of priorities.

“For when it came to things like publishing their causes or when they could set their tour dates or what campaigns they wanted to run.”

Ms Robinson agreed and went into greater details of the annoyance felt by Meghan and Harry during their split from the Royal Family.

She said: “Meghan and Harry realised there was a hierarchy and things happen in a certain way.”
