Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are ‘careering from one disaster to another’, claims royal expert

PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle are “careering from one disaster to another” with trying to balance their desire for privacy with royal duties, according to an expert.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have come under fire recently for trying to keep their lives away from the public eye.

The couple opted to keep Archie’s christening and names of the godparents private, and Wimbledon spectators were allegedly told off for taking photos of the duchess as she watched Serena compete.

This follows the revelation that renovations on their home, Frogmore Cottage, cost the British taxpayer £2.4million from the Sovereign Grant.

Speaking on the Pod Save the Queen podcast, Royal Editor Russell Myers said: “Certainly, Harry would like to be more like Zara and Mike [Tindall], and have that freedom.

“But unfortunately he is related to the heir, and he is going to be the son of the future King.

“The problem is, you can’t have one foot in and one foot out, and this is the issue that’s being debated at the moment.

“It seems like they’re careering from one disaster to another.”

Prince Harry has long struggled with his role in the royal family, and even once confessed that he had considered giving up his title.

He also told the Mail on Sunday that his Army time had been the “best escape I’ve ever had”.

Katie Nicholl, author of Harry and Meghan, said that Prince Harry as a new father “doesn’t want Archie to grow up with the burden he did”.

Katie said that it is the Duke of Sussex, 34, not Meghan, 37, who is keen to shield Archie from the public eye.

She told Fabulous Digital: “I think it’s more Harry. He wants him to have an ordinary life.

“I think it’s Harry who is making a point from the outset that he wants to shield his son from the limelight and I think he’s making a point that Archie will be raised as a private citizen.

“This is from the man who grew up in front of the cameras, in front of the scrutiny of the spotlight, who has said in the past he wished he’d never been born a prince.

“It makes complete sense that he didn’t want the HRH title for Archie, he didn’t want his son to have the burden that Harry grew up with.”

Russell continued that the royal couple are making mistakes by not following their PR briefs from the palace.

He added: “People I’m speaking to who are close to the Sussexes and close to the household are saying that they just don’t take advice.

“That is major problem for them.

“In terms of the goodwill towards them, they don’t want to be extinguishing it every single time there’s an event.

“I’m afraid they need to really realise where they are in the world, and you can’t switch [privacy] on and off when you want.”

The palace announced that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have split from the joint charity with Kate Middleton and Prince William.

Last November, The Sun exclusively revealed that Meghan Markle “left Kate Middleton in tears” over her strict demands for Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress.

Meanwhile, one of Prince Harry’s former friends Lizzie Cundy claimed earlier this year that Meghan Markle has pushed Prince Harry’s friends outsince their move to Frogmore Cottage.
