Martin Luther King Jr ‘laughed as pastor friend raped woman in hotel and had affairs with 40 women’, FBI tapes claim

EXPLOSIVE FBI tapes claim Martin Luther King Jr “laughed” as a pastor friend raped a woman in a hotel room.

Files found hidden deep in a huge archive on King include allegations that he had 40 affairs, orgies and slept with a prostitute, while campaigning against racism in the US.

King, who was assassinated in Memphis in 1968, won the Nobel Peace Prize for his work in the civil rights movement during the 1950s-60s.

He is remembered as one of the greatest speakers of all time with his ‘I Have a Dream’ speech in Washington representing a landmark moment in the movement.

However, while he was loved around the world for his inspirational leadership and championing of peaceful protest – his turbulent personal life has also been revealed.

In particular a string of marital affairs have caused people to have complicated view of King in the #Metoo era.

But now his reputation has been hit with fresh sordid allegations after American historian David Garrow discovered tapes in a vault at the US National Archives, the Sunday Times Reports.

Mr Garrow, who won a Pulitzer prize in 1987, discovered how the FBI bugged King’s room with tiny transmitters hidden in two lamps at the Willard Hotel, Washington DC.

Agents then listened in with “radio receivers and tape recorders” in nearby rooms, the historian writes in next month’s edition of magazine Standpoint .

William Sullivan, assistant director of the FBI, wrote in one 1964 memo that King was heard telling friends “he had started the ‘International Association for the Advancement of P**sy-Eaters’.”

While in another document the incredible rape claims were made.

It is alleged that King was with friend Logan Kearse, the pastor of Baltimore’s Cornerstone Baptist church, who visited Washington with “several women ‘parishioners’ of his church”.

King was invited into the room where the FBI said they “discussed which women among the parishioners would be suitable for natural and unnatural sex acts”.

The FBI document adds: “When one of the women protested that she did not approve, the Baptist minister immediately and forcibly raped her” as King watched.

However, Garrow also states that while the FBI agents listened to an alleged rape taking place – none stormed into the room and stopped the act.

The FBI also alleged that King and others “participated in a sex orgy” which one bureau official described as “acts of degeneracy and depravity.”

King was subject to extensive surveillance by the FBI after it was feared one of his advisors, Stanley Levison, was a “secret member” of the Communist party.

FBI director Edgar J hoover was concerned that King’s affairs would lead him vulnerable to potential communist blackmail.

Mr Garrow told the Times that FBI material on King includes surveillance recordings that were sealed by court order for 50 years in January 1977.

It most incriminating tapes could finally be revealed in 2027.
