MARIO GOTZE fuelled speculation surrounding a switch to Liverpool as he admitted he is constant contact with Jurgen Klopp.
The World Cup winner, 26, made his name under the German boss at Borussia Dortmund before he joined Bayern Munich in 2013.
Gotze returned to Dortmund in 2016 and Klopp left Germany in 2015 to continue his managerial career with Liverpool.
But the attacking midfielder has admitted that he has remained in contact with his former boss.
Speaking about the transfer speculation, he told Bild: “He [Klopp] knew that I wanted to leave Bayern. Of course, we talked.
“He knows me very well and that I am always looking for new challenges.
“I often speak to Klopp. He brought me to the first team when I was 17 and he made it all possible. We never stopped talking.”
During his time at Bayern Munich, Gotze was managed by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.
Discussing Klopp and Guardiola, the 26-year-old said: “They are difficult to compare because they pursue different philosophies.
