Manny Pacquiao would retire if Mayweather rematch falls through, reveals coach Roach

MANNY PACQUIAO could walk away from boxing if he fails to get a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr, according to his trainer Freddie Roach.

The Pac-Man defended his WBA welterweight belt beating Adrien Broner on points last month and has now set his sights on putting the record straight with Mayweather.

Pacquiao was outclassed by the American in their long-awaited fight in 2015.

The scrap in Las Vegas is still the biggest grossing boxing match up in history generating £470million in pay-per-view and gate receipts.

And the Filipino slugger fancies beefing up his bank balance for the second time against Mayweather who has not fought seriously since beating UFC star Conor McGregor two years ago.

And if it’s not Mayweather, then they could turn their attention to the classy WBA super welterweight champion Keith Thurman.

Roach told Fight Hub TV: “I would think that yes.

“But the thing is, if we can’t get Floyd we might retire.

“That’s definitely a possibility, me and Manny talked about it.

“He really wants Floyd but we’re waiting to see.”
