Solskjaer said after the win over Bournemouth last weekend when asked for the secret behind Martial’s success this season: “I think the team creating chances, Anthony working hard, being the No.9 in a settled position.
“But also once in a while rotating with Marcus and switching positions. Today, for his goal, he started off on the left and curled it into the top corner.”
The United boss is confident he will get more and more from Martial and Rashford in the final four games of the campaign.
The strikers became the first pair of Red Devils players since Dimitar Berbatov and Javier Hernandez in 2010-11 to score 20 goals or more in a single season across all competitions.
“He’s [Martial] just got to 20. Marcus got to 20, so the two of them can settle down a little bit with that and don’t have to chase that next goal, because that is a milestone for everyone,” he said.
Martial will hope to extend his account for the campaign this evening when United take on relegation-threatened Aston Villa at Villa Park (8.15pm).
