Borussia Dortmund have reportedly told Manchester United that they will not sell Jadon Sancho once the 2020/21 Bundesliga season starts meaning Ed Woodward has less than two months to strike a deal.
United are playing the long game with Dortmund in hope that Sancho’s £115million price tag can be reduced.
The Red Devils have made it known that they will not part with more than £50m to secure the England international.
However, reports in Germany suggest Dortmund believe United have more money available in the coffers and are just playing hardball.
Dortmund will have to bring in a replacement if they let Sancho move to Old Trafford.
German publication Waz claim Lucien Favre’s side will not sell the 20-year-old once the Bundesliga season kicks off.

The preliminary date for top-flight football in Germany to get back underway is August 21.
However, that may be pushed back a week or so to avoid clashing with the Champions League, which is due to play the final of a condensed mini-tournament on August 23.
Waz add that Dortmund have categorically ruled out selling Sancho in September or October, despite this summer’s window being extended until October 6.
United legend Gary Neville admitted Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must raise his stakes if he wants to land Sancho.
