Manchester United are reportedly dismayed by claims they are close to signing Wolves striker Raul Jimenez. Jimenez has had a fine season under Nuno Espirito Santo, scoring 27 goals in all competitions.
And this month, Jimenez will look to fire Wolves to success in the Europa League when it gets back underway.
However, his future was thrown into doubt last week when reports in Portugal claimed Jimenez was closing in on a move to United, with Wolves set to replace him with Sporting de Braga striker Paulinho.
So far, no move has materialised with United and Wolves focusing on their European preparations.
United already boast a formidable forward line of Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood.
United finished the league season 33 points behind Liverpool but were unbeaten in their last 14 games with Matic playing a key role in defensive midfield while the likes of Bruno Fernandes provided the creative edge.
And with United target set to strengthen their squad in the transfer market, Matic believes a title challenge next season is imperative.
“Me, personally, I would like to win the Premier League with Manchester United,” he said.
“I think that our club always needs to fight for the title.
“We always need to try to do the best for this club, which we are doing at the moment, and I think we cannot allow any club to win the league seven or 10 games before the season finishes. So we have to fight until the end.
“Of course, we have a young team, but this cannot be an excuse. I think these young players already have a few seasons behind them playing.
“So, from the next season, we have to fight for the title. I don’t know if we’re going to win [it] but I’m sure that we can fight until the end.
“That’s my personal target and I think the rest of my team-mates think the same.”
