Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has played down transfer talk of a move for Bournemouth star Nathan Ake. The Red Devils boss was seen chatting to the Netherlands international after his side’s 5-2 win over the Cherries last Saturday. But it appears the club won’t be moving for the Chelsea star when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Solskjaer said: “I have got seven centre-backs so I don’t know where that came from! We’re fine.”
Talk of a move for Ake has arisen amid some issues in United’s defence.
Harry Maguire has struggled for consistency since the restart, while David De Gea is back under pressure after allowing Junior Stanislas’ shot to slip past him in the Bournemouth win.
Yet it appears United won’t be strengthening in that department come the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils have Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe all capable of playing at the back.
And they’ve also got Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo currently out on loan.
