MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly set to meet the £31million release clause to sign Kostas Manolas from Roma this summer.
Despite another solid season in Serie A, Manolas may choose to end his time in Italy, with Roma not certain to make the top four.
And according to the Rome edition of Leggo, United are ready to help the Greek centre-half embark on a new adventure in the Premier League.
Manolas, 27, has spent five seasons with Roma, and could be ready for a new challenge.
And of course United are still desperate to bring in some more competition at the back – with the likes of Marcos Rojo and Eric Bailly looking out of favour.
Manolas has won 39 caps for Greece having made his international debut back in 2013.
JOVIC CHASE HOTS UP
Another player the Red Devils are reportedly chasing is striker Luka Jovic.
The 21-year-old is currently playing in the Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt – on loan from Portuguese club Benfica – where he has netted 17 league goals in 27 matches.
Jovic’s goalscoring form caught the eye of Barca chiefs, who saw the Serbian international as a long-term replacement for hitman Luis Suarez.
However, Mundo Deportivo report the La Liga champions are set to end their interest in the Benfica owned player due to concerns about his ability to play in “tight areas”.
Scouts that have watched Jovic this season are said to have been impressed with his finishing ability.

But with stars such as Lionel Messi in the squad, qualities other than netting goals are needed.
Barca chiefs want a player able to run with the ball with good control, similar to Messi and Suarez, and the conclusion is that Jovic does not meet this requirement.
The news will be welcomed by United and their Prem rivals Chelsea, who are believed to be monitoring the proflic centre-forward.
