As well as introducing a new threat in the form of Lucifer’s evil twin brother, Michael, season five will also introduce legendary TV star Dennis Haysbert as God.
Hyping the new instalment, Ellis said: “For a long time we thought we were making the final season of Lucifer, so we decided to adopt the mentality of ‘go big or go home.’
“Subsequently, most of the episodes are closer to an hour than usual and they are packed with fantastic stories and performances.”
Featuring family reunions, epic action and romance in the air, Lucifer season five is shaping up to be an essential watch to round out Netflix’s summer slate.
Lucifer Season 5 Part 1 will be released August 21 on Netflix.
