What is London Fashion Week all about and when does it start?

London Fashion Week (LFW) is well known for showcasing and celebrating emerging designers alongside well-established brands.

The next London Fashion Week begins tomorrow Friday, February 15, 2019, and runs until Tuesday, February 19, 2019.

LFW is attended by more than 5,000 press and buyers, and orders placed during the week often exceed £100million.

London Fashion Week is actually a biannual event – meaning there are shows in February and September each year.

And it is one of four major fashion events that take place around the world each year.

The other three cities that make up the “Big Four” alongside London are New York, Milan and Paris.

The event is organised by the British Fashion Council, with the first ever London Fashion Week taking place in October 1983.

Past attendees have included Naomi Watts, Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell

Saturday’s schedule will follow a similar time pattern, kicking off at 9am, with shows every hour until 9pm.

Sunday, February 17, is the day for Britain’s top designers to showcase, with Victoria Beckham, Burberry and Vivienne Westwood all on the agenda.

Pringle of Scotland and Aspinal of London will show off their collections on Monday, February 18, while closing day will see shows from London based Fine Jewelry and ready-to-wear designer Natasha Zinko.
