LEWIS HAMILTON joining Ferrari would send the “ultimate message” to the F1 and confirm his place as one of the sport’s greats.
Hamilton, who has a contract with Mercedes until 2020, has been linked with a switch to the Italian team where he would look to win a world title.
Ferrari have not won constructors’ championship since 2008 but should Hamilton deliver them a title, he would have won with three teams.
And Channel 4 pundit and former Red Bull driver, Mark Webber, says it is not out of the question seeing the Brit join Ferrari.
He said: “That would be the ultimate message to a lot of people. People like Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel.
“A flip to Ferrari and to become a world champion is a hard one to do. Michael of course won their but the number of drivers who have are thin on the ground.

“The one thing with Lewis is that he has to keep an eye on his motivation. He is a mercurial talent but there could be one final twist.
“I think the Niki Lauda factor could come into it. If Niki was still there at Mercedes, I don’t think Lewis would look at it, but now Mercedes might not stop him if he wants to go.
