CHRISTIAN BENTEKE was left not shaken but stirred after a cringeworthy exchange with team-mate Cheikhou Kouyate on the Crystal Palace bench.
Social media gleefully pounced on Kouyate leaving Benteke hanging FIVE SECONDS for a handshake – before the striker finally withdraws his arm.
With the Eagles hitting four in their impressive Premier League victory at Leicester City, surely Benteke could have expected Kouate to give him five.
But instead the Senegal midfielder fiddled around with his gear while the seated Benteke patiently held his arm aloft waiting in vain for a handshake less than a metre away.
And it was Kouyate who was the clear villain of the scene for Twitter users.
One said: “Lol that was the most painful part of the match!”
And another tweeted: How you gonna leave Benteke hanging like that? ”
But neither player will be too worried about that moment as Palace bask in one of their finest results since former England manager Roy Hodgson took over in September.
Hodgson’s decision to bring in Michy Batshuayi on loan from Chelsea was rewarded by the Belgium striker’s fortuitous, deflected opener on 40 minutes.
And Benteke – one of those stuck on te bench because of batshuayi’s arrival – then watched on as two-goal main man Wilfried Zaha and Luka Milivojevic clinched a 4-1 success.
