KIERAN TRIPPIER is having a medical at Ateltico Madrid today before his £25million move from Tottenham is confirmed.
The 28-year-old has been linked with a move away from the North Londoners all summer and his departure has moved one step closer.
According to Football London the two clubs are close to finalising the deal and as a result Spurs have given permission for the right-back to have a medical in the Spanish capital.
Having joined Tottenham from Burnley for £3.5m in 2015, Trippier became one of the hottest properties in English football.
And his performances saw him force his way into the England setup which led to him whipping in a vicious free-kick to open the scoring in England’s World Cup semi-final defeat to Croatia last summer.
But after a groin injury and a significant dip in form since, Spurs have decided the time is right to part company.
Despite links with Napoli, Manchester United and Juventus this summer, the Spaniards seem to have won the race for his signature.
LATEST FOOTBALL NEWS
Trippier returned to pre-season training with Spurs earlier this month but his impending departure means the North Londoners will travel to Asia with just one right-back in Kyle Walker-Peters.
Serge Aurier is still on their books but has only just finished playing in the Africa Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast.
And while Juan Foyth can also slot in this latest news means Spurs will almost certainly be on the hunt for a replacement before the transfer window shuts.
