FORGET roses, KFC has created a bouquet of fried chicken for Valentine’s Day – but you’ll have to make it yourself.
It might not be as fancy as Champagne but KFC has called it a “bouquet de poulet” so you can at least impress your other half in French: the language of love.
Sadly, the bouquet won’t be sold at KFC branches (more’s the pity).
But KFC said the very unusual floral gift has been designed so that customers can easily make it themselves at home.
We’re not convinced we’d want to be presented with an edible bouquet but it could be the perfect gift for a fried chicken lover.
All you need to do is buy a bunch of roses, and a bucket of KFC chicken.
We think the cheapest you can make it for is £13.99 as a six-piece bargain bucket is £11.99 and Aldi is selling a dozen red roses for £2.
Where can you buy the cheapest roses?
HERE is a list of cheap roses deals around for Valentine's Day:
- Aldi is selling a dozen large roses for £2, available in mixed colours or simply in red, in stores now
- Morrisons is selling a single red rose for £2 or a bunch of 12 for £5, available in stores now
- Sainsbury’s is stocking single red roses for £3 or a dozen for £20, in stores now
- Asda is selling a bunch of 12 red roses for £5, which are available in stores now
- Cancer Research has teamed up with Prestige Flowers for Valentine’s Day so that 25 per cent of the processed will go to charity. A dozen red roses costs £25 and are available to order online now
- Lidl is selling a bouquet of 100 sweetheart red roses for £25
If your loved one’s favourite treat doesn’t come in a bucket though, KFC said you can ask for a spare bucket and it won’t cost you extra.
The “bouquet de poulet” is more expensive than buying a normal bunch of flowers, sure – but you can guarantee your loved one won’t have ever received a bouquet like this before.
Just remember to keep the bucket when you empty out the chicken as you’ll need it for the “vase”.
A KFC UK & Ireland spokesman said: “Whether it’s for the one you love, a budding romance, or you just want to give your fried chicken-obsessed mate a gift, the Bouquet de Poulet has got your back this Valentine’s Day as the ultimate present.”
How to create your KFC bouquet
To make the arrangement, empty a KFC bucket.
Place pieces of fried chicken onto long bamboo cocktail sticks. You can pick some up at Sainsbury’s for 75p.
Then place single roses inside the bucket alongside the fried chicken sticks. Trim the sticks and the stems if they are too long.
You can also buy some white baby’s breath flowers and decorative leaves to make it look professional if you’re feeling really flush.
