Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp could not help but think of his injured captain as the players gathered in the dressing room before their Premier League title ceremony. The Reds had just beaten Chelsea 5-3 without their skipper but he still had a big part to play in the occasion.
Henderson’s season was over following the 3-1 win at Brighton after a clash of knees with Yves Bissouma.
The club feared the worst before scans and there was some suggestion he could miss the start of the next season.
In the end it just proved to be minor ligament damage but it did mean he would not be able to play a part in the rest of the campaign.
He was sat in the dugout smiling away though against Chelsea, knowing the wait was drawing ever closer to get his hands on the trophy.

Earlier in the day, Henderson had ruled out his trademark shuffle due to his injury.
He tweeted: “I’m not sure if the #HendoShuffle is on the cards tonight but love all of these! great effort everyone!”
The 30-year-old was not true to his word though and pulled out his quick feet despite nursing a knee support.
He hobbled up the stairs with a nervous look on his face but he pulled off yet another iconic lift of the trophy and one that will live long in the memory of all Liverpool supporters around the world.
It was a special moment for the players and staff and although they did not get to share it with the fans, the club went the extra mile to ensure this was still a ceremony to remember.
