Jet2 has announced that it will be restarting flights and holidays to Cyprus from August 17. The budget flight operator recently decided to cancel its routes to Cyprus because of the country’s strict coronavirus restrictions on Britons. Cyprus is exempt from the Foreign Office’s advice against all non-essential international travel.
From August 1, the UK was added to Cyprus’ “Category B” list of countries.
This means that tourists can travel to Cyprus but they have to provide a negative coronavirus test on arrival.
The test must be obtained within 72 hours before travel.
The FCO site explains: “On 31 July 2020, The Republic of Cyprus government announced that test results can be in the form of an email or SMS, but the result itself and/or appointment letter must include the date and time when the test was taken.

Larnaca flights will begin from some UK airports from August 17, and Paphos from August 18.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2 and Jet2holidays, said: “Looking at the demand it’s very clear just how much our customers are looking forward to their well-deserved holidays in the Cypriot sunshine.
“These have been incredibly uncertain and difficult times for everyone, and we have been busy looking after our customers and doing the right thing for them.
“As a result of this, customers know they can trust us to deliver and that’s our absolute focus for anyone travelling with us – delivering award winning customer service and package holidays you can trust.”
Savvas Perdios, Deputy Minister of Tourism Cyprus added: “Jet2.com and Jet2holidays is one of our most loyal and trusted partners and we are more than eager to once again, welcome its customers to Cyprus.
“We would like to wish Jet2.com and Jet2holidays every success and extend a warm welcome to all its customers.”
The Foreign Office also says that Britons heading to Cyprus do need to complete a form before travelling.
It added: “All travellers to Cyprus must complete a Cyprus Flight Pass before travelling, available on the Cyprus Flight Pass website.
“You will be responsible for ensuring your PCR test result is uploaded to Cyprus Flight Pass within 24 hours of your departure.
“If you need to provide your appointment letter you can upload both documents in a single photo.
“In addition to obtaining the Cyprus Flight Pass, passengers are required to carry with them, in hard copy or electronically, copies of these documents.
“You will be asked to present your flight pass prior to boarding and on arrival at immigration.”
