DEAR DEIDRE: I’M fed up with people asking me when I’m going to find a nice man to marry – the truth is I’d rather be with a woman.
I’m 27 and I’ve got a daughter of six. I was brought up in a very old-fashioned home where I was made to believe that same-sex relationships were wrong.
Girls were always more attractive to me but I couldn’t tell anyone. I was sexually attracted to a man when I was at university. We didn’t have a lot in common so things fell apart – but not before I got pregnant.
Kids were always a joy to me, so I had my daughter and he’s a good dad.
I know I’m gay but it’s depressing to think I’m going to waste the best years of my life unless I can be truthful to myself, my family and friends.
