ITV explained that Holly would not be appearing having failed to recover enough to return to presenting duties.

Phillip is expected to open the show by announcing that 38-year-old Holly will be spending the Valentine’s Day edition of the show at home.

Yesterday, he told This Morning viewers: “Holly is poorly today, if you’ve been watching through the week you’d know she’s been on a sort of downward spiral.

“It started on Dancing On Ice and she wasn’t really brilliant on Sunday and it’s kind of got worse and worse and worse.”

The 56-year-old added: “Finally, she’s fallen over. She’s staying home today. Get well soon. She’s not going to be watching but get well soon.”
