Parents, brace yourselves. The countdown to Disney’s Frozen sequel has begun, with the studio releasing the first trailer 10 months ahead of the film’s release.
The original Frozen film has grossed more than £1 billion at the box office since its release in 2013.
Frozen 2 will be released in November, along with a deluge of merchandise just in time for Christmas.
The trailer reunites the cast of Idina Menzel (Elsa), Kristen Bell (Anna), Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) and Olaf the snowman (Josh Gad), but the action looks darker than the first film.
The director, Jennifer Lee, told Variety that the film would be “more epic” in scale, hinting that the characters would go on a dangerous quest.
Frozen won two Oscars, for best animated feature film and best song with Let It Go. A Broadway production is expected to transfer to the West End next year.
The film became the fifth highest-grossing film in box office history and the highest-grossing animation ever made. Its DVD became Amazon’s best-selling children’s film of all time.
