Friday’s horse racing NAP: Your best bet for today’s racing from Callum Jamieson

THE opener at Donny on Friday is an intriguing little heat.

A number of Newmarket’s big guns are in town for it and it should throw up a couple of handicappers to follow.

FOREST OF DEAN (Doncaster, 1.40) could be one of those, and should make an amends for a disappointing second last time out.

Stuck on the rail out the back, Kieran O’Neill had a nightmare trying to get some room and when the gap finally appeared it was far too late and the winner had already scooted off.

He finished like a well-handicapped horse that afternoon and a 2lbs rise looks generous.

There’s a number of unexposed rivals lurking here, but his experience could come in useful up the long Doncaster straight.

Days Of Glory was impressive at Windsor, but still looks like he could need a run or two before fully finding his potential.

Felix could be anything for Sir Michael Stoute after being bought from Luca Cumani, but Stoute is yet to hit top gear and it’s likely this colt could need a run.

Elsewhere on Friday…

Sandown is properly tricky to pick through but the one I may have a nibble on is David Menusier’s MIGRATION (Sandown, 1.50). There’s no doubt he’ll be better than an 82 animal, but I’d like to see a bit of market support before committing due to the quiet start the yard have made.
