The Fortnite update time has been changed by Epic Games, following an earlier delay.
The dev team had wanted to release patch 7.40 today, on PS4, Xbox, PC, Switch and Mobile.
But last-minute technical issues forced Epic Games to delay the release of the new update.
The good news is that Fortnite 7.40 has a new release date and fans won’t have to wait long.
Epic Games has confirmed that they will be launching their next Fortnite update tomorrow, February 14.
A new post from the development team confirms that the Fortnite update process will begin at 9am, GMT.
“Unwrap something sweet in the v7.40 update,” a new message from Epic Games reads.
“Downtime for the patch begins Thursday, February 14 at 4 AM ET (0900 UTC).”
As mentioned above, the new patch will require downtime, meaning scheduled server maintenance.
This will start a little before 9am and will mean that fans won’t be able to login and play the game.
It’s unclear how long downtime will last but fans can at least expect an hour of disruption to occur.
Full patch notes will be released as servers go offline, providing fans with all the information they need to know.
Early update notes shared by Epic Games confirms that there are plenty of changes being made.
The Fortnite Stats system is being revamped so that it will be easier to track all your data across platforms.
Fortnite tracker changes will include:
“The ability to track all of your play in one place and view it across all platforms. All of your previously earned stats will be added in and displayed in-game.
There may be a few minor edge cases where a small amount of data could be missing. All LTM stats are combined and tracked in a singular tab.
“This means that any previous LTM stats you’ve earned will be moved out of the Solo/Duo/Squad tab and into the LTM tab.
“The exception to this would be Large Team Mode LTMs. We don’t track stats in those game modes.”
Epic is also tackling some long-standing gameplay issues, some of which can be found below:
- Planes will no longer be able to smash through structures.
- Zipline interact prompt added, and using a Zipline will grant fall damage immunity.
- Hand Cannon structure damage reduced from 150 to 100.
- Turbo Build delay decreased from 0.15s to 0.05s.
- Rocket Launcher reload time increased from 2.52s to 3.24s.
- Added the ability to crouch while in Edit Mode.
- Stay tuned for the full patch notes when the update releases.
A brand new Infantry Rifle is being added to the game, which will boast a classic design and a new combat style.
Epic Games has also announced that the Cupid Crossbow is being released from the vaults and will be available for a limited amount of time.
