Fortnite servers aren’t responding right now, because Epic Games has taken the game offline for maintenance.
Fortnite downtime typically takes place every couple of weeks, as Epic performs maintenance in time for a new update.
This week it’s the turn of update 7.40, which makes some pretty major changes to Battle Royale.
Fortunately, however, server downtime isn’t expected to last for very long.
The game was taken offline just before 9am, and should be back online by 11am UK time.
While you wait for the downtime to end, you can download the big new update and check out the latest set of patch notes.
Fortnite 7.40 update PATCH NOTES: Free Overtime Battle Pass, Infantry Rifle, Stats V2
Fortnite update 7.40 introduces Overtime challenges that reward players with a free Battle Pass.

“Additionally, unlock 5 new rewards including the Valentine Wrap and Vines Contrail for completing these Challenges.
“And for current Battle Pass owners, the Overtime Challenge rewards will include new unlockable styles for the Trog, Powder, and Onesie outfits.”
Epic is also rotating LTMs at a faster pace, beginning with a Catch modes where all guns are removed.
Elsewhere in the update, the Infantry Rifle makes its debut, while grenades have been vaulted.
On the plus side, Clinger Grenades make a return to Battle Royale.
Stormplanes have also been tweaked so they no longer break through structures.
