When Sharon spots Phil, along with Ben Mitchell and Keanu Taylor dashing off to rescue the teenager, Sharon tries to find out what’s going on, but Phil barges out and tells her to be quiet.

Sharon – played by Letitia Dean in the BBC soap – then quizzes her son Dennis and Tiffany Butcher about whether the drug gang are involved in what’s happened to Lou, but she’s quickly put in her place by Tiff.

Back at home, Sharon tells everyone that Louise is in danger and Kathy Beale is furious that Phil’s implicated Ben.

It’s not long before tensions in the Mitchell camp reach breaking point.

Billy Mitchell tries to calm the situation, but ends up dropping Phil in it, while a guilty Lola Pearce watches on.

Later, Sharon is left rocked when Kathy – Gillian Taylforth – reveals that the only reason Ben returned to Albert Square is because Phil’s in financial trouble.

As the situation escalates, Sharon and Kathy agree not to call the police. It’s then, with the pressure still on the Mitchells, that Sharon makes her shocking discovery. But what is it?

The Mitchells have been at the heart of the action recently as Ben and Lola returned to Walford just in time to bail Phil out of trouble from gangster Danny Hardcastle.

But it was soon revealed that Ben – played by newcomer Max Bowden – has a long-term plan to build his dad up, only to break him back down again.

Phil has got into trouble after getting mixed up in a money-laundering scheme in Spain.
