The Dutch minister for foreign affairs said the nation was filing a case to the European Courts of Human Rights (ECHR) in a bid to support the victims’ next of kin.
Flight MH17 was shot down over Ukraine killing 298 people including 196 Dutch nationals in July 2014.
Minister of foreign affairs Stef Blok said: “With the step we are taking today, by filing a case with the ECHR and thereby supporting the complaints of the next of kin as much as possible, we are getting closer to our goal.”
