A DRIVER found himself stuck in a huge traffic jam after a rush-hour horror smash – before discovering that his girlfriend had died in the pile-up.
Heartbroken Cristian Miculaiciuc, 24, was among thousands of drivers trapped in queues after Sorina Gheorghe, 24, was killed on the M5 on 5 April.
After an hour of queuing cops called him to say she had been killed when a 4×4 ploughed into her car.
She had been driving to work in Aston to inspect Jaguar parts when she was struck at 5:30am.
An off-duty paramedic rushed to help but she was declared dead at the scene.
Grieving Cristian paid tribute to his “loving” partner in an emotional interview with the Birmingham Mail.
He wept: “When the accident happened I was stuck in the queue in the back for hours with the lorry having no power to help her or to get there.
Sorina was very kind and loving, and she was a very hard worker
“I only found it out it was her an hour into sitting in the queue.
“Sorina was very kind and loving, and she was a very hard worker.
“She always had a positive attitude and did every little thing for us to be happy in her presence.”
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, ambulance staff found a car that had suffered considerable damage.
