The former Corrie, Emmerdale and Shameless star thought she was having a nervous breakdown after signing for the apartment in London on Tuesday.

On the train back to Manchester she had a panic attack and felt like “someone was sat on my chest”.

She says she put on sunglasses to hide her tears, then locked herself in her car and gave herself “a talking to”.

She tweeted: “Broke down – for four hours. Oh my God I’m having a nervous breakdown, I thought.

“I cried until I felt like I was gonna pass out.”

Hayley, 41, went public with her experience on World Mental Health Day to encourage others to seek help.

She admitted she sees a therapist, adding: “I guess on the outside looking in I seem to have the world at my feet.

“I’m a fixer. I fix people. I help people. If my friends have a problem they come to me.

“But when I have a problem I feel like I need to try and fix it myself and not tell anyone.

“Yet the advice I give to others is talk. Tell someone. Don’t suffer on your own.”

Fans praised her courage in speaking out. One said: “Thank you for posting this. I can relate to everything you said. “I’m the worst for asking people to help me as I think I’m weak and can fix it myself. It’s on days like this that I know I’m not alone.”
