Carla Connor is in for a shock in Coronation Street tonight when she wakes up in hospital, with Roy Cropper and dad Johnny at her bedside.
After seeing the state of a very confused and unwell Carla when she returned on Monday, Roy made the difficult decision to call for help when Carla insisted she was fine.
But while Roy and Johnny are there to support her, Carla will make it obvious that the person she really wants to see is her partner, Peter Barlow.
Fans of Coronation Street know that Peter has taken himself off to a private rehabilitation centre, paid for by Claudia Colby, after he relapsed into alcoholism following Carla’s breakdown and disappearance.
Roy tells Peter’s dad Ken that Carla wants to see Peter but Ken is adamant that he won’t call his son for the sake of his health.
He tells Roy that nothing should get in the way of Peter’s own recovery, but will Roy leave it at that?
It doesn’t look like it because in the second helping of Corrie tonight, Peter is back and ready to support Carla.
The consultant at the hospital will tell Peter that Carla is being sent home, but she needs to take the anti-psychotic drugs that have been prescribed to her. Peter then tells Ken that he’ll be moving Carla into No.1 so he can look after her – but Ken is not happy with this and tells Peter that they’re not welcome there.
He says that Peter isn’t well enough to look after himself, let alone Carla at the moment.
Has Ken got a point? Will looking after Carla prove too much for Peter who has been warned by doctors that one more drink could kill him.
Viewers were in bits watching on Monday night when Carla was forced to go to hospital against her will.
She’d been missing for several weeks following the shocking Underworld roof collapse that killed Rana Habeeb.
Roy called the ambulance because Carla needed urgent medical attention because she hadn’t been taken medication.
Carla, played by actress Alison King, broke down in tears when the ambulance arrived – as she fears everyone is out to get her.
Viewers at home were taken back by the emotional scenes and took to Twitter to make their feelings known.
One wrote: “That was an emotion scene tonight! Poor Carla! #corrie.”
Another said: “What amazing acting Tonight by the brilliant Alison King a.k.a. Carla Connor!!”
A third added: “Give Alison King all the awards.”
A fourth stated: “Poor Roy. I can only imagine how awful that must be if you have a close friendship with someone, they develop a mental illness and suddenly they tell you the
I’ll never forgive you for something that isn’t true. Must be devastating.”
