Coronation Street fans blast bosses for recycling storylines after David Platt lies in the street cradling his blood-soaked girlfriend – just like he did with wife Kylie

CORONATION Street fans have blast bosses for recycling storylines after David Platt was seen cradling girlfriend Shona in the street – just like he did with wife Kylie.

During last night’s show David, played by Jack P Shepherd, was seen with a blood-covered Shona in his arms.

Viewers were concerned she had been injured after she ended up stabbing son Clayton during a bloody fight.

Eagle-eyed fans spotted that the scene was reminiscent of when David’s wife Kylie died on the Cobbles back in 2016.

Kylie was attacked by Clayton (Callum Harrison), who stabbed her in the street and she died in David’s arms.

Taking to Twitter to comment on the similarities, one person commented: “Another one dying in David’s arms? Have some originality #Corrie.”

A second remarked: “David is literally holding Shona in the exact same way he held Kylie as she was dying and this hurts me so much, both caused by Clayton @itvcorrie STOP THIS NOW.”

While a third added: “#coronationstreet David holding Shona is like when he held Kylie on the cobbles.”

Meanwhile,  Julia Goulding – who plays Shona – hinted at her current storyline, revealing the Platt family were set for a “dramatic” plot.

She said: “There are some really good stories coming up for Shona, and obviously I can’t tell you much about them.

“But it’s been nice to have some light relief since the rape storyline, so I’m really looking forward to getting back into the nitty gritty drama.

“It’s nice to be able to do both.

“I’d like to see her go off the rails again. From what she came in as I’ve been allowed to explore so many different colours to her personality.

“I’d be excited to get a bit bad again.”
