However, some people may be able to apply for an extension for Child Benefit.
Claimants could get Child Benefit for 20 weeks if the child leaves approved or training, and they either register with their local careers service, Connexions (or a similar organisation in Northern Ireland, the EU, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein), or sign up to join the armed forces.
