CHERYL today hinted that her next single could be released in May – six months after her last comeback.
Taking to Instagram to post a glamorous selfie, the singer, 35, joked about how “March-ish” had now become May, suggesting that fans still have to wait another month before anymore new music.
In January Cheryl implied that she already had more music in the works following her comeback with the single Love Made Me Do It, saying on The One Show she hoped it would be out in “March-ish”.
In today’s snap, Cheryl was seen glancing off into the distance while wearing a camouflage top with her long brunette locks styled into big waves.
She captioned the snap with: “When she says March-ish but might have meant May … (if you know you know).”
This led fans to believe they wouldn’t be getting new music for another month with one saying: “Next single was supposed to be out in March… Looks like it’s May when it will be released.’”
Her last comeback was less than successful and it all started with THAT ‘hand licking’ performance on X Factor.
In November the star gave her first stage performance in four years with track Love Made Me Do It.
Cheryl, who used to be a judge on the ITV talent show alongside Simon Cowell, writhed around on the floor in a sexy black bodysuit – and even licked her hand in the sultry performance, but it wasn’t enough to win over viewers at home.
Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: “Give it up Cheryl, you’re embarrassing yourself #cringe”.
Other viewers cruelly criticised the star’s decision to sing live instead of lipsync, with one quipping: “Surprised Cheryl isn’t miming, but to be honest she’d be better off doing that!
“That high note she tried to hit completely cringed me out.”
Another wrote: “Cheryl basically using the production, her moves etc to throw people off her ‘singing’. Should have just lip-synced. Terrible.”

The single also plunged out of Spotify’s Top 200 in the UK after just two days, though the official midweek charts have her at 8, the highest new entry.
Cheryl’s last hit was I Don’t Care in 2014 which went to number one.
Her last single, Only Human, released in 2015, missed out on the top 40, only reaching position 70 on the UK official charts.
