When is the Champion Hurdle, what’s the distance and which sort of horses can enter?

The 2019 Champion Hurdle will take place on Tuesday, March 12 at 15:30 (3:30pm).

It’s a Grade 1 National Hunt hurdle race, run over two miles, for horses aged four years and upwards.

Who is running in the 2019 Champion Hurdle?

How can I watch the race?

The race will be broadcast live on Racing TV and ITV.

ITV1 is on Sky channel 103 and Virgin channel 103.

You can watch Racing TV on Sky Channel 426 and Virgin Media Channel 536.

Who won the Champion Hurdle in 2018?

The classy Buveur D’Air won the race for the second year in a row.

The 4-6 shot just held on from Melon (7-1) in second with Mick Jazz (25-1) in third.

Which jockeys and trainers have won the Champion Hurdle the most? 

Nicky Henderson is the leading trainer having won the race SEVEN times.

Henderson has won the race with See You Then (1985, 1986, 1987), Punjabi (2009), Binocular (2010) and Buveur D’Air (2017, 2018).

Jockey Ruby Walsh has four victories to his name and is the current leading jockey thanks to Hurricane Fly (2011, 2013), Faugheen (2015) and Annie Power (2016).
