Chelsea ace Callum Hudson-Odoi gives mum Blues shirt after making his first Premier League start

CALLUM HUDSON-ODOI celebrated his first Premier League start by giving his shirt to his mum.

The Chelsea winger played 90 minutes of Wednesday’s 3-0 win over Brighton in a landmark moment for the former academy star.

And the teenager gave his top to mum, Jennifer, as a thank you for the support she has shown on the long road to becoming a first-teamer at his boyhood club.

Hudson-Odoi, 18, has been with Chelsea since 2007 and boss Maurizio Sarri reckons he could play up to 35 matches next season.

Ambitious Hudson-Odoi may have to take a back seat again, though, for Monday’s league clash at home to West Ham.

Sarri is preparing to rejig his team with a busy week looming.

After the derby, Chelsea face Slavia Prague away in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday.

Three days later there is an away trip — to title-chasing Liverpool. Sarri is also monitoring the fitness of midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who the Blues boss admits is not able to play a full match at present because of ongoing back problems.

It is a shame for the England star who has impressed Sarri this season with his progress.

Sarri said: “At the start of the season, he was a very offensive midfielder. Now he is complete.

“The problem is that he’s not able to play for 90 minutes. Every day we check his back.”

Zinedine Zidane spoke yesterday of his admiration for Blues superstar Eden Hazard.

Real Madrid’s boss infuriated Manchester United fans when he talked about their midfielder Paul Pogba last week.

Asked about summer target Hazard, he said: “I’ll not give my opinion about what may happen but I’ve always appreciated him.

“I’ve seen him a lot since I was playing in France. He’s fantastic.”
