A ONE-OFF supercar unveiled by Bugatti has taken the title of the most expensive new car ever sold.
Revealed at the recent Geneva Motor Show, the new La Voiture Noire comes with a hefty £14.4million price tag.
With just one model being built, the impressive coupe was designed as a tribute to the Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic made between 1936 and 1938.
Just four of the Atlantic’s were ever made and they are now thought to be worth as much as £38million.
The all-new coupe uses the French manufacturer’s Chiron as its base, boasting the same almost 1,500bhp, 8.0-litre turbocharged engine.
Priced at £9.4million before tax, the motor has already been sold to a wealthy enthusiast.
The sleek coupe is said to combine limousine-style comfort with some of the world’s best hypercar performance.
And its name simply translates to “The Black Car”, adding to its simplistic style.
Etienne Salome, Bugatti designer, said: “Every single component has been handcrafted and the carbon fibre body has a deep black gloss only interrupted by the ultrafine fibre structure.
“This is a material that has been handled perfectly. We worked long and hard on this design until was nothing that we could improve.
“For us, the coupe represents the perfect form with a perfect finish.”
