Brigitte Macron, age 65, is the wife of the French President, Emmanuel Macron, 41. Formerly a schoolteacher, she married the politician back in 2007. Today, she was pictured at the Élysée Palace. The 65-year-old was attending the first meeting for the G7 (Group of Seven) Advisory Council For Gender Equality.

No longer working as a school teacher, the wife of the current French President now spends most of her time supporting important causes.

Today, she was joined by her husband Emmanuel Macron to greet guests at the gender equality summit.

A post on the G7 France Twitter account – @G7 – read: “Experts from around the globe are meeting today in Paris for the G7 Gender Equality Advisory Council meeting.”

Later, it emerged that the Advisory Council intends to compile a list of “exemplary gender equality laws” from across the globe.

The compilation is intended to serve as a source of inspiration for the world.

In one snap, Brigitte was pictured shaking hands with actress and UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, Emma Watson, 28.

A style icon for many, she wore a sophisticated blue suit.

Her jacket was buttoned at the centre, and featured a thin belt which was tied into a statement bow.

Brigitte’s pencil skirt was cut to just above her knee, and she finished the all-blue look with a pair of suede pointed heels.

She also wore a blue scarf, which she had draped around her neck and over her shoulders.

Brigitte also welcomed US Ambassador to France Jamie McCourt.

She and French Junior Minister attached to the Prime Minister in charge of Gender Equality, Marlene Schiappa, 36, also greeted the two Laureates of the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize: Congolese gynecologist Denis Mukwege, 63, and Iraqi Yazidi activist Nadia Murad, 26.

The two were awarded the prestigious title last year, for “their efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war and armed conflict”.

Brigitte was pictured last week during a visit to the Theatre des Bleus de Bar in France.

She wore a double-breasted dark brown coat, which is thought to be by Givenchy.

It is thought she also sported the item last year, with a similar wool coat being sold on MyTheresa for £2,120 at the time.
