WATFORD fans gave Brendan Rodgers an angry reception at Vicarage Road today and the Northern Irishman was abused even more online when he tried to play the boos down.
Fans of different clubs took to Reddit to slam the new Leicester boss for his post-match comments with many likening them to those of Ricky Gervais’ – The Office character David Brent.
The former Liverpool and Celtic boss was in charge at Vicarage Road for less than seven months in the 2008/09 season and managed to avoid relegation from the Championship.
Despite saving them from the drop, Rodgers angered Watford fans when he abruptly left for Reading in the summer of 2009 just days after talking of ‘loyalty’ and ‘integrity’ and dismissing rumours linking him with the job.
Rodgers recently took charge at Leicester City and his side crashed to a 2-1 defeat in his first game after Andre Gray’s late winner cancelled out Jamie Vardy’s equaliser at Vicarage Road.
After the game, Rodgers made light of the boos from the home fans.
